The Hearing Loss Association of America of Greater Baltimore (HLAA-GBC).

 

The chapter meets serveral times a year. Hearing loss meetings open to the public, as well as a summer picnic and winter holiday party.

 

Hearing loss meetings are held throughout the year, except for December, July, and August.

All HLAA members, family, friends and anyone interested in hearing loss are invited!
Enjoy the woods, trails and water along the Patapsco, and a view of
the historic Thomas Viaduct, the world's longest multiple-arched stone railroad bridge.
FOOD: Bring a potluck side dish or entree to share.
HLAA-GBC will provide a selection of hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie-burgers, and
condiments plus paper goods, cups and ice, bottled water, soda, charcoal.
A donation of $5 per adult is suggested to cover cost of the pavilion.

Margaret will be teaching about Family Relationship Dynamics including suggestions for better conversation at holiday gatherings. She will discuss some effective techniques that people can use to help others to communicate effectively in these settings. This will help to strengthen the bonds that draw family members together. Cochlear Implants 2016: Advances in
Technology, Candidacy and Outcomes
Cochlear implant candidacy and outcomes have advanced reflecting technology improvements
and better linkage between the surgical intervention and follow-up care. Children
and adults with a wider range of hearing loss and other medical issues are now benefiting
importantly from traditional cochlear implants as well as hybrid and auditory brainstem
implants. Medicare age individuals who have been told they have a bit too much hearing
to qualify for Medicare coverage for a CI may be candidates for a clinical study.
